Call to Action

These Are the Urgent Changes We Need

Call to Action:

FDA: Update Antidepressant Warning Labels

The FDA should update SSRI and SNRI prescribing information to ensure patients receive accurate, complete information about the full risks before starting treatment, including clear warnings about:

  • Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD)

  • Persistent neurological effects

  • Protracted antidepressant withdrawal

The warnings should clearly state that these injuries may persist for months, years, or indefinitely after discontinuation.

NIH: Fund Research

We still do not fully understand the biological mechanisms underlying these antidepressant-induced injuries, and there is currently no established cure or evidence-based treatment.

The NIH should prioritize funding research to:

  • Identify the biological mechanisms underlying PSSD and protracted antidepressant withdrawal.

  • Develop effective treatments for those living with these conditions.
